Most scholars agree that 1, 2, and 3 John were written between 85-95 AD, around the same time as the Gospel of John.

Audience

John's second letter was addressed to "the chosen lady," who remains unidentified. There are three possibilities commonly suggested by scholars: 1) the Church 2) a godly mother 3) a house church in Asia Minor. -more than one of the possibilities could be true.
