Subjective Compliments
the adjective, noun, or pronoun that follows a linking verb
Simple Subject
the main word in the complete subject Ex: the tall BOY out in left field made a great diving catch.
Simple Predicate
the main word or phrase in the complete predicate. Ex: juan RUNS on the treadmill at the gym.
Compound Predicate Adjective
two or more adjectives in the predicate that describe the subject
Compound Direct Object
two or more nouns or pronouns that receive the action of the verb
Compound Indirect Object
two or more pronouns that receive that indicate to whom or for whom the action of a verb in a sentence is performed
Predicate Adjective
An adjective in the predicate that describes the subject
Predicate Nominative
It renames, identifies, or defines the subject or subjects. It always takes the form of a noun or pronoun.
Compound Predicate Nominative
Two or more nouns or pronouns that rename, identify, or define the subject or subjects.
Compound Verb
Two or more verbs that share the same noun or pronoun
Complete Subject
a group of words that names what a sentence is about Ex: THE TALL BOY OUT IN LEFT FIELD made a great diving catch.
Complete Predicate
a group of words that tells something about the subject Ex: juan RUNS ON THE TREADMILL AT THE GYM.
Indirect Object
a noun or a pronoun that indicates to whom or for whom the action of a verb in a sentence is performed
Direct Object
a noun or pronoun that receives the action of the verb
Compound Subject
contains two or more subjects, uses the same verb, and is joined by a conjunction such as and or or. Ex: JACK, BRANDON, and MICHAEL played basketball after school.
