Trade Secret

A formula, device, idea process, or other information used in a business that gives the owner or competitive advantage in the marketplace.

Trade Name

A name that a business uses to identify itself and it brand. It is directly related to a business reputation and goodwill and is protected under trademark law

Distributed Network

A network used by persons located (distributed) in different places to share computer files

A Patent

A property right granted by the federal government that gives an inventor an exclusive right to make use or offer to sell an invention in the united state for a limited time.

A service mark is essentially a trademark that is used yo distinguish the service rather than the product of one person or company from those of another

Copyright

the exclusive right of an author or originator of a literary or artistic production to publish,print, sell, or otherwise use that production for a statutory period of time

Peer to peer networking

the sharing of resources (such as files, hard drives, and processing style) among multiple computers.

collective mark

when used by member of a cooperative, association, labor union, or other organization.

Domain Name

Part of an internet address, such as cengage.com. the part to the right of the period is the top level domain and indicates the type f entity that operates the sites, and the part to the left of the period, called the second level domain is chosen by the entity

cybersquatting

The act of registering a domain name that is the same as or confusingly similar to, the trademark of another and then offering to sell that domain name back to the trademark owner.

Fanciful trademark

are device which have been invested for the the sole of functioning as a trademark and have no meaning than acting as a mark

A suggestive trademark

are marks that suggest a quality or characteristic of the good or service.

counterfeit goods

copy or otherwise imitate trademarked goods but are not genuine.

Descriptive mark

Descriptive mark are devices which merely describe the service or goods on which the mark is used.
