A person is sexually attracted to nonliving objects. Ex. Undergarments, shoes, clothing made out of rubber or a part of the body which is called (partialism)

What are some possible causes of paraphilic disorders? What are some treatments used?

Cause: deficiencies in consensual adult sexual arousal, deficiencies in consensual adult social skills, deviant sexual fantasies that may develop before or during puberty, and attempts by the individual to suppress thoughts associated with these arousal patterns. Treatment: psychosocial treatments of these disorders are only modestly effective among individuals who are incarcerated, but somewhat more successful in less sever outpatients.

Cross-dressing About 90% are males Majority are heterosexual married men. Some do it for sexual kicks and others do it because they feel more comfortable

Desire: Male hypoactive sexual desire disorder (little or no desire to have sex); female sexual interest/arousal disorder (little or no desire to have sex) Arousal: Erectile disorder (difficulty attaining or maintaining erections);female sexual interest/arousal disorder (little or no desire to have sex) Orgasm: Delayed ejaculation (premature ejaculation); Female orgasmic disorder Pain: None for men; Genito-pelvic pain/penetration disorder (pain, anxiety, and tension associated with sexual activity: vaginismus, I.e, muscle spasms in the vagina that interfere with penetration.)

Paraphilic disorders

Disorders that cause distress or impairment to the individual, or cause personal harm, or the risk of harm to others.

Define premature ejaculation, its causes, and treatments.

Ejaculation that occurs well before the man and his partner wish it to, defined as approximately 1 minute after penetration in DSM-5. Causes: Faulty masturbation ( would try to finish too fast) Treatments: Squeeze technique, SSRI, Behavioral treatment

List and define the four stages of the human sexual response.

Excitement: A subjective sense of sexual pleasure and physiological signs of sexual arousal. Plateau: brief period before orgasm. Orgasm: In males, feelings of the inevitability of ejaculation, followed by ejaculation; in females, contractions of the walls of the lower third of the vagina. Resolution: Decrease in arousal occurs after orgasm (particularly in men)

Define gender dysphoria and its treatment.

Gender dysphoria is a dissatisfaction with ones biological sex and the sense that one is really the opposite gender. Treatment for adults with marked gender incongruence may include sex reassignment surgery integrated with psychological approaches.

Incest

If the children are the persons relatives, the pedophilia takes the form of incest. Victims of incest tend to be girls beginning to mature physically.

Define erectile dysfunction, its causes, and treatments.

Inability to achieve or maintain an erection Physical Causes: high blood pressure also meds, to much alcohol, too many cigarets (long term or even before sex), cocaine, anephetamines, diabetes, cardiovascular, spinal cord. Psychological Causes: Anticipatory performance anxiety cycle: become anxious about getting it up and thinking about their own penis isn't something that turns them on Treatments: viagra and similar drugs

Define inorgasmia, its causes, and treatments.

Inability to reach orgasm. Causes: Not knowing how to masturbate. Treatments: Learn to masturbate by watching videos.

Define vaginismus, its causes, and treatments.

Involuntary contraction of muscles in vagina. Causes: Early child sexual abuse. Treatments: Teach woman to relax PC muscles. Use small dildos to recondition vaginal muscles.

People born with ambiguous genitalia and hormonal abnormalities. They are assigned a gender at birth and then often provides with hormones and surgery to complete the correspondence. Also know as hermaphrodites.

Voyeuristic disorder

Practice of observing, to become aroused, an unsuspecting individual undressing or naked.

Pedophilia

Sexual attraction to children ( or young adolescents generally aged 13 years or younger)

Sexual dysfunction

Sexual disorder in which the client finds it difficult to function adequately while having sex.

Frotteuristic disorder

Typically occurs in large cities in very crowded subways or buses. In this situation, women have been known to experience more than just jostling and pushing from behind. What they discover is a man with a frotteuristic arousal patterns rubbing against them until he is stimulated to the point of ejaculation
