Describe the importance of Antoine Lavoisier's work. Where and when did he work, what discoveries did he make and were there any remarkable events in his life?
He discovered the Law of Conservation. Mass cannot be created or destroyed. He worked in the French Revolution in 1785. The discovery was important because it showed scientists that mass does not change because of chemical reactions. He was killed in the French Revolution because he was a tax collector. He was later pardoned after he was killed. He also created the metric system to make tax collection more fair.
What was Rutherford's gold foil experiment?
He shot a stream of alpha particles at a thin layer of gold foil and most passed through; some deflected and those that did deflected almost right back to the source. It proved that there was more empty space than Thomas thought.
