Filament

A slender stalk that supports the anther, where the pollen develops

Pistil

Female reproductive organ inside the flower of an angiosperm; consists of a sick stigma, where pollen grains land, and an ovary, leads to eggs

Pollination v.s fertilization

Pollination: transfer of pollen form an anther to a stigma, Fertilization when the pollen (male) reaches the eggs.

Pollination v.s germination

Pollination: transfer of pollen from an anther to a stigma, Germination: the process of growth from a seed to a plant

Germination

Series of events that results in the growth of a plant from a seed

Ovary

Swollen base of an angiosperms pistil where egg- producing ovules are found, contains a seed, deavelops in a baby plant

Style

A long slender stalk that connects the stigma and the ovary, location where pollen tubes travel to deliver sperm cells to the egg

Sepal

Covers the bud and protects it from cold, protective layer, lower outer part (petal) covers bud before flower, sprouts from it

Stigma

Female part of a flower, part of the pistil where pollen germinates, traps pollen, covered in sticky waxy substance, landing zone for bees

Ovule

In seed plants, the female reproductive part that produces eggs

Stamen

Male reproductive organ inside the flower of an angiosperm; consist of an anther, where pollen grains form, and a filament, produces pollen grains

Anther

Oval shaped structure, male, produces pollen

Petals

To attract pollinators, usually the colorful part of a flower, considered a leaf

Pollination

Transfer of pollen grains to the female part of a seed plant by agents such as gravity, water, wind, and animals, transfer of mature pollen grains from the anther to the stigma
