More than 3 authors?

Use 1st authors last name then use et al (Smith et al.)

3 authors?

Use ALL names (Smith, Jones and Rex)

2 authors?

Use both names (Smith and James)

Where are citations placed?

After the quote marks and before the period. Ex : "The End" (Franklin 2).

Cite sources where?

Cite sources at the end of the sentence

If a source has no title then what do you do?

Cite the title of the article. You must include the full title within the sentence the 1st time and italize. After using it more than once you can shorten the title.

Cited from a multi volume work?

Include the volume then the page (Smith: 2:21-45)

After source is used once what do you do?

Put authors last name inside of parentheses

When do you cite?

Something that is not common knowledge

What if a corporate author uses and abbreviation?

Spell the entire name out 1st. Ex: (Federal Bureau of investigation(Fbi) )

First time citing a source what do you do?

State the source and the qualification WITHIN the text. (ex: James Doe, PHD, history professor at Ohio state University, claims that the battle of Gettysburg was...)

Refrences in text?

They must clearly point to specific sources in the list of works cited. Your in text citation MUST match your works cited page.

Included the authors name or title in the sentence?

You DO NOT need to repeat that info within a citation at the end

Corporate Author?

You can use the corporates name as the citation. Ex: (Scholastic)

Cite more than one text from same author?

You must include authors name and title WITHIN the in text citation (Doe, The Red Scare)
