Procedural due process is the procedure that authorities have to go through before a punishment can be made. Set process can help protect citizens from wrongful arrest and conviction. One of these procedures is the Miranda warning that police officers tell the citizen that is being arrested, listing their rights and notifying them of the process that is beginning. This protects citizens from self incrimination, double jeopardy, also ensures that they will have counsel, a prompt and reasonable trial/proceeding and due process.
