Infrared - IR

One of the most common serial interfaces. Standard communication to connect mouse/printer/modem before the USB. Maximum distance of 50 feet, DB-9 connector for termination or DB-25, mini-DIN, or captive screw connector for termination.

Similar data rates to RS-422, twisted pair cable to reduce noise, up to 32 devices can communicate through the same data line. Any devices on this data line can communicate to each other without going through a master device.
