What was the Northwest Ordinance of 1785?

The Land Ordinance of 1785 was adopted by the United States Congress of the Confederation on May 20, 1785. The Ordinance set up a survey system that eventually covered over 3/4 of the area of the continental United States.

The cold Labrador Current drifts southward immediately offshore, and the warm Gulf Stream flows to the east of the Labrador Current. These weather contributes to fogs result in cooler temperatures, contribute to cloud cover, and sometimes cause hazard to shipping and aviation.
