Great Dane

A Great Dane is truly a great dog breed-large and noble, commonly referred to as a gentle giant or as the "Apollo of dogs." Apollo is the Greek god of the sun, the brightest fixture in the sky. Great Danes have been around for a long time, and depictions of Dane-like dogs on artifacts date back thousands of years.

Papillon

About the Papillon A tiny dog, measuring 8 to 11 inches at the shoulder, you can still spot a Papillon a block away thanks to the large, wing-shaped ears that give the breed its name ("papillon" is French for "butterfly"). Some Paps have erect ears; in others, known as the Phalene type, the ears are down.

Alaskan Malamute

The Alaskan Malamute is a large breed of domestic dog originally bred for their strength and endurance to haul heavy freight as a sled dog and hound.

English Bulldog

The Bulldog, also known as the English Bulldog or British Bulldog, is a medium-sized dog breed. It is a muscular, hefty dog with a wrinkled face and a distinctive pushed-in nose.

Chihuahua

The Chihuahua dog breed's charms include their small size, big personality, and variety in coat types and colors. They're all dog, fully capable of competing in dog sports such as agility and obedience, and are among the top ten watchdogs recommended by experts.

Chinese Crested

The Chinese Crested, a lively and alert toy breed standing between 11 and 13 inches high, can be hairless or coated. The hairless variety has smooth, soft skin and tufts of hair on the head, tail, and ankles. The coated variety, called the "powderpuff," is covered by a soft, silky coat.

Chow Chow

The Chow-Chow is a dog breed originally from northern China. The Chow-Chow is a sturdily built dog, square in profile, with a broad skull and small, triangular, erect ears with rounded tips. The breed is known for a very dense double coat that is either smooth or rough.

Collie

The Collie is a large but lithe herder standing anywhere from 22 to 26 inches tall. The rough variety boasts one of the canine kingdom's most impressively showy coats; the smooth coat's charms are subtler but no less satisfying. Coat colors in both varieties are sable and white, tricolor, blue merle, or white.

Dachshund

The Dachshund was developed in Germany more than 300 years ago to hunt badgers (dachs, badgers; hund, dog). Dachshunds are bred with three coat varieties: (1) Smooth, (2) Long, and (3) Wirehaired, and is shown in two sizes: standard and miniature.

Shih Tzu

The Shih Tzu is a sturdy, lively, alert toy dog with long flowing double coat. Befitting his noble Chinese ancestry as a highly valued, prized companion and palace pet, the Shih Tzu is proud of bearing, has a distinctively arrogant carriage with head well up and tail curved over the back.
