Healing dreams:

Healing dreams are dreams that are thought to bring to light health issues, whether they are mental, physical or emotional.

Recurring dreams:

Recurring dreams are those that come up more than once, many theorize that these dreams come up more than once to send you a message that hasn't been received.

'Prodomic' dreams

• Ancient Greeks called these "prodomic" dreams, which means 'running before' and this meant these dreams signal the presence of an illness before there are any outward signs of it. (Mallon 2014). There are many cases of people having dreams that signal them to go to the doctor and illness is found in the place the dreams highlighted.

Research from Giorgio Buzzi:

• Georgio Buzzi made a web questionnaire where he asked about false awakening and what people were experiencing; majority experienced waking up in the place they fell asleep and doing daily activities but a couple experienced waking up and exploring and wandering somewhere else (Buzzi 2011).

Explain:

• Has anyone ever seen Groundhog Day? These dreams are similar to that. They can become repetitive and start to feel bizarre because they are so vivid. You may wake up in what looks exactly like your room, you get up and go to the bathroom to get ready, get dressed but it really is all a dream. Once you have actually awoken from this dream, you have to do a reality check.

Why they send the message:

• In the cases where you forget your dreams, they may occur time and time again because the message the dream was sending was so important that it will keep occurring until you remember and understand.

False Awakenings:

False awakenings are convincing dreams where you think you have woken up from your dream and gone about a common activity or morning ritual but you are really still asleep.

Story of Barasche:

• Marc Barasch who wrote the book "Healing Dreams: Exploring the Dreams That Can Transform Your Life" spoke about his story on how his dreams changed his life. He was having rather vivid dreams about death revolving around his neck. For example, he had a dream that a World War 2 bullet was lodged in his neck and a Chinese surgeon removed it. After having many strange dreams, he headed to the doctor where he spoke about his dreams and his neck and the doctor said it was most likely work related stress. The dreams persisted and after plenty of examination, the doctor found a nodule on his thyroid which was found to be cancerous.

Barasche:

• Marc Barasche states that the purposes of healing dreams are to reach totality, which is the goal of psychological development; to embrace our deepest contradictions ( Barasche 2001). Sometimes we can put off our emotions or mental health issues and not realize how these are affecting us and these dreams can lead us to realizations.

Multiple false awakenings:

• Some dreamers experience multiple false awakenings which can be annoying because who wants to wake up and repeat there morning activities 6 times?

National Social Science Association:

• The National Social Science Association had a psychology class of 32 students journal their dreams. Researchers looked to see if they had recurring images, feelings and themes in their dreams. The most recurring motifs were: - Presence of family members - Reliving past relationships (spouses, boyfriend /girlfriend) - Animals becoming humanized - Being confused - Being afraid or fearful - Presence of water - Nature scenes (forests, trees, mountains) - Presence of friends - Vehicles / forms of transportation - Sexual experiences - Being lonely

What the message means:

• The information in these dreams is normally bringing to light problems you have yet to deal with or fears. These dreams uncover important information about you.
