Earth has liquid water!
Earth is the only place in the Universe, that we know of, that supports/or where life exists. Why?
Earth is a "just" right planet. It has a comfortable temperature that allows life. It has liquid water that does not boil.
What are scientists who study the Earth called?
Geologists- the root geo, means earth.
What is the Earth's thick atmosphere made out of?
It is made out of Nitrogen and Oxygen. Oxygen allows us to breath and keeps the earth warm.
How do we know so much detailed information about Venus?
Spacecraft probes with out people in them have flown close to the surface and sent back pictures.
How far away is the Earth from the sun?
The Earth is about 93 million miles away from the sun. That is pretty close in Astronomical units! (Remember the activity we did when we measured the distances with the string on the last day of school)
What is the Earth's nickname?
The blue planet because there is so much water on it.
What are the layers of the Earth?
The crust or surface of Earth is what covers the outside of the Earth. The Mantle has the thickest layer of magna. The Core is the middle of the Earth and is made out of Iron and Nickel. The Core is so hot that it seems solid.
Why is it important that the Earth is tilted?
The tilt allows for the four seasons.
Why are Earth and Venus called sister planets?
They are about the same size and they are both close to the sun.
What is a feature of Venus that is different from all the other planets?
Venus is the only planet that rotates clock wise, in the same direction as the hands of a clock. This means the sun rises in the west and sets in the east on Venus.
What makes Venus so different to the sun?
Venus is very hot, 466 degrees C, it is dry and covered in volcanos.
How did Venus get its name?
Venus was named after the Roman Goddess of love and beauty.
