Emergency Equipment Introduction
Quick Response Kit (QRK)
Contains the most common items needed when responding to a medical situation. Includes but is not limited to: non-latex gloves and a CPR mask.
Lavatory Fire Extinguisher
Fixed fire extinguisher used to extinguish all classes of fire in the lavatory trash chute on all aircraft.
Flex Cuffs
Flexible Restraints (Flex Cuffs) are used to restrain an individual. They are contained in a plastic bag and placed in stowage locations on the aircraft.
Emergency Medical Kit (EMK)
Houses advanced medical supplies to be used by medical professionals or Inflight Crewmembers when authorized. It includes items such as: stethoscope, blood pressure cuffs, common over-the-counter medications, needles.
First Aid Kit (FAK)
Houses items used to provide basic first aid supplies for injuries. It includes items such as: bandages, swabs, scissors, gloves.
Crew Life Vests
Provide a means of flotation to Crewmembers. Life vests are equipped with an emergency locator light. Crewmember life vests are red in color.
Customer Life Vests
Provide a means of flotation to Customers. Life vests are equipped with an emergency locator light. Customer life vests are yellow in color.
Med Pack
Provides items for responding to minor first aid incidents. It includes items such as: antibiotic ointment for minor cuts, bandages, non-latex gloves, wipes.
Life Lines
Rope-Like devices that can be attached to the aircraft and used to assist as a handhold at a window exit during an evacuation.
Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT)
Sends a signal used by emergency responders to locate aircraft wreckage in the event of a remote emergency landing/ditching.
Fire Resistant Gloves
These gloves are to be used when fighting lithium battery fires or when responding to Portable Electronic Devices (PEDs) that are overheating or smoking. They are contained in a plastic bag and placed in stowage locations on the aircraft.
Escape Ropes
To be used to evacuate the aircraft from the Flight Deck window.
Megaphone
To communicate and signal.
Safety Demo Kit
Used by inflight Crewmembers to demonstrate the features of equipment used throughout the aircraft for Customer safety.
Emergency Flashlight
Used to direct, signal, and provide visual help in emergency situations only.
Slide
Used to facilitate the evacuation of Customers and Crewmembers during an emergency evacuation.
Crash axe
Used to gain access for firefighting by puncturing/ tearing aircraft wall panels and chopping/cutting through fuselage to provide escape.
Manual Release Tool (MRT)
Used to manually open the oxygen dispensing units in the event of a malfunction of the automatic release latch.
Protective Breathing Equipment (PBE)
Used to protect Crewmembers from smoke inhalation and toxic fumes when fighting a fire in-flight.
Customer Seatbelt Extensions
Used to provide Customers with an extension to their seatbelt if not long enough. Also used to disable the airbags in seats equipped with airbag seatbelts when necessary.
Biohazard Kit
Used to provide equipment for personal protection and clean-up of potentially contaminated body fluids. It includes but is not limited to: face mask, protective gown, CPR mask.
Manual Life Rafts with Survival Kit
Used to provide flotation in the event of ditching. Each one contains a built-in survival kit.
Survival Kit
Used to provide items useful for survival in a land or water emergency, which includes but is not limited to: flashlight, whistle, signal flare, first aid items, utility knife.
Cabin Fire Extinguishers
Used to put out all classes of fire
Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
Used to restore normal heart rhythm following cardiac arrest.
Customer Wheelchair Stowage Kit
Used to safely and securely store a Customer's wheelchair in the aircraft cabin.
Portable Oxygen Bottle (POB)
Used to supply oxygen in medical situations or during a decompression.
Onboard Wheelchair
Used to transport Customers who are non-ambulatory to and from the lavatory.
