World-imposed moral dilemmas

A world-imposed dilemma is a situation where events that we can't control have created an unavoidable moral conflict.

Systemic Dilemma

It is a problem due to issues inherent in the overall system such that, a change to the structure, organization or policies in that system could alleviate the systemic problem.

Self-imposed moral dilemma

The moral dilemma is self-inflicted. This can cause a number of complications when attempting to make a decision.

Ontological Moral Dilemma

The options in this dilemma are equal in their moral consequences. This means that neither of them supersedes the other. They are fundamentally on the same ethical level. Therefore, the individual cannot choose between the two.

Epistemic Moral Dilemma

The situation involves two moral choices that conflict, but the individual has no idea which choice is the most morally acceptable. They don't know which is the most ethically viable. They need more information and knowledge surrounding the two options before making an informed decision.

Organizational Dilemma

This dilemma exists within an organization or a particular sector. It refers to the colliding interests of an individual and that of the organization.

Personal Dilemma

a common dilemma experienced by an individual. In this level, the moral problem is unique and distinctive to the moral agent who is confronted by the moral situation, such that, it entails a private and peculiar solution from the individual.

a complex situation which often originates from conflict between the moral imperatives of two persons.

Moral dilemmas

are situations where an individual has to make a choice between two or more clashing options.

Obligation moral dilemmas

are situations where we feel we are obliged to opt for more than one choice. We feel we are obliged to carry out an action from a moral or legal standpoint.

Prohibition moral dilemmas

are the opposite of obligation dilemmas. The choices that are offered to us are all, on some level, morally reprehensible.
