A protocol in which "https" is used in a URL. The "s" stands for "secure" to show that the website will make a secure connection to the computer.

Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP)-Ethan

A protocol used to make a secure connection to a computer, identified by the "https" prefix in a URL and often used by banks and retail stores.

encryption-Ethan

A security method of "scrambling" information as it is transmitted over a network. Information is scrambled in such a way that it cannot be read unless the user possesses the "key" to unlock it back to a readable format.

A text field near the top of a web browser window that displays the URL of the current webpage.

A unique number that consists of four sets of numbers that range from 0-255 separated by periods.

A website that enables members to manage media such as photos, videos, and music.

Software that combs the web to find webpages and add new data about them to a database. Also called spider.

Text or an image in a webpage that you can click to navigate to another webpage, download a file, or preform another action, such as sending an email message, also called a link.

3D Secure-Seth

The 3D Secure protocol is the popular method for secure online payments used by VISA, MasterCard, American Express and most others. It is an XML protocol that uses SSL encryption to ensure data is secure.
