Free Body Diagrams and Net forces
Gravitational Force (Fg)
It is the downward force.
Applied Force (Fa)
It moves the object forward.
Free Body Diagrams
A diagram showing all the forces acting on an object
Normal Force (Fn)
A force exerted by one object on another in a direction perpendicular to the surface of contact, usually opposite of gravity.
Compression
A force that pushes on or squeezes a material.
Drag
Backward acting force
Thrust
Forward force
Balanced Force
The net forces acting on an object in a certain direction. (X,Y, or Z) are equal to zero and the object will either remain stationary or move at a constant velocity.
Unbalanced Force
The net forces acting on an object in a certain direction. (X,Y, or Z) are not equal to zero, which results in the object accelerating or decelerating.
Net Force
The overall force acting on an object.
Tension
(physics) a stress that produces an elongation of an elastic physical body
Frictional Force
air resistance (wind) and backward force.
