Many countries have tried to improve their reputations concerning human rights violations, thereby increasing their chances of attracting foreign investments. Vietnam is one such example. Other countries such as Singapore have sought to reduce centralized government control of business to free up and encourage entrepreneurial energy and resources. Still others have sought to diversify their economies, reducing dependence on agriculture or only a few industries. Indonesia of the Philippians are examples of such diversification. Collectively, Southeast Asia founded the ASEAN, and international trade organization designed to promote and encourage globalization of their economies. Consequently, many of the Southeast Asia countries are considered economic tigers. Poverty is instability still exist, but these countries have taken great strides toward overcoming those obstacles to continued growth and development
