Indus River Delta

This is a delta in southern Pakistan, containing the city of Hyderabad and near the megacity Karachi. It is in an arid region, and receives less water than it should due to agricultural irrigation, which has been problematic for the environment there.

Thar Desert

This is a desert in eastern Pakistan, with the larger portion of it in India.

Karakoram Range

This is a mountain range in northern Pakistan, containing the highest concentration of over-8,000 meter peaks in the world. These include K2, Gasherbrum I and II, and Nanga Parbat, among others.

Kashmir

This is a mountainous region in the most northeast part of Pakistan. It is disputed with China and India.

Khyber Pass

This is a pass between Pakistan and Afghanistan, in the northern part of the country. A strategic military region, it been an important route for resupplying troops in Afghanistan since fighting started there.

Punjab

This is a region in eastern Pakistan that extends into India as well. It is one of the most fertile regions of Asia, and is home to many of Pakistan's largest cities.

Arabian Sea

This is a sea to the south of Pakistan. It is part of the Indian Ocean, and the Indus River flows into it.

Baluchistan

This is an arid desert and mountainous region in southwestern Pakistan and Iran. It contains the Central Makran Range, and nationalists in the area have caused conflict over the years.

Indus River

This is one of the longest river in Asia, running all the way from northern Pakistan to the Arabian Sea. Some of the earliest civilizations in the world have been built around this river, and it is now the lifeline of Pakistan's people and economy.

Islamabad

This is the capital and tenth largest city in Pakistan. It is located in northern Pakistan, bordering the city of Rawalpindi. It is home to Faisal Mosque, the largest mosque in South Asia and the fourth largest in the world.

This is the currency of Pakistan.

Peshawar

This is the eighth largest city in Pakistan, located in northwestern Pakistan close to the Khyber Pass. It is a gateway between Pakistan and Central Asia, and has been the home for many Afghan musicians and artists who have fled the country in the wake of the Taliban insurgency.

Gasherbrum I

This is the eleventh highest mountain in the world, at 26,510 feet. It is located on the border with China in the Karakoram Range. It is also referred to as K5 and Hidden Peak.

Multan

This is the fifth largest city in Pakistan, located on the Chenab River in the eastern part of the country. It is famous for its crops, and is known as the City of Saints because of the large number of shrines and Muslim saints.

Rawalpindi

This is the fourth largest city in Pakistan, located next to the capital of Islamabad in the northern part of the country. It is interlinked with Islamabad economically, and the two are known as the "twin cities".

K2

This is the highest mountain in Pakistan, and the second highest in the world. It is located on the border with China, in the Karakoram Range.

Himalaya

This is the highest mountain range in the world. It is located in northwest Pakistan, and extends into India, China, Nepal, and Bhutan.

Karachi

This is the largest city in Pakistan, and the fifth largest in the world. Located on the Arabian Sea, it is the major industrial and financial center in Pakistan and the country's most cosmopolitan city. With over 20 million people, it is one of the world's few mega cities.

Nanga Parbat

This is the ninth highest mountain in the world, at 26,660 feet. It is located in northern Pakistan. It forms the western end of the Himalayas, and lies just south of the Indus River.

Lahore

This is the second largest city in Pakistan, located near the country's eastern border with India in the Punjab region. It was the site of the declaration of Indian independence and the resolution to call for the creation of Pakistan.

Faisalabad

This is the third largest city in Pakistan, located southwest of Lahore in Punjab. It is a major industrial and distribution center because of its central location and connecting roads and rails.

Gasherbrum II

This is the thirteenth highest mountain in the world, at 26,362 feet. It is located on the border with China in the Karakoram Range, in between Gasherbrum I and Broad Peak.

Broad Peak

This is the twelfth highest mountain in the world, at 26,414 feet. It is located on the border with China, in the Karakoram Range, and is named for its large summit that is almost a mile long.
