In his panicked state, Virgil imagines having conversations with Ruby. Kaori, Gen, and Valencia go to Virgil's house to look for him. Chet was bitten by a snake in the woods.

9.

Kaori, Gen, and Valencia go into the woods together. Virgil yells for help. Chet dishonestly brags to Kaori, Gen, and Valencia about his snake-wrangling skills. Kaori recognizes who Virgil's V.S. truly is. Sacred alerts Valencia that something is wrong.

3.

Valencia sees Kaori's psychic advertisement at the Super Saver and texts Kaori for an appointment to discuss her dreams. Chet and Mr. Bullens make unkind comments towards people who have hearing differences and body type differences.

Virgil attends school, listens to Lola's stories, and plays with Gulliver. Virgil schedules an appointment with Kaori to discuss his Grand Failure.

Virgil calls for help. Valencia puts the cover back on top of the well. Virgil begins to panic and imagines Pah. Kaori becomes concerned when Virgil is late for his appointment. Valencia arrives at Kaori's house for her appointment.

Virgil empties his pockets of stones and climbs down the well's ladder. The ladder was too short to reach the bottom of the well, so Virgil jumps to the bottom. He drops his phone, and it breaks. Virgil discovers that Gulliver is safe.

Chet enters the woods with the goal of catching a live snake to show John Davies. Valencia enters the woods to feed Sacred. Virgil enters the woods to pick dandelions and get stones for Kaori's ritual.

Chet finds Virgil in the woods and makes hateful comments to him. Chet rips Virgil's backpack off his shoulders and throws it down a well.

2.

Valencia prays to Saint Rene and is plagued by nightmares. Kaori and Gen prepare the spirit chamber for a meeting. Chet bullies Virgil while Virgil is on the way to Kaori's house. Virgil tells Kaori about V.S.

11.

Valencia and Kaori develop a business plan. Virgil sends a text to Valencia.

10.

Valencia realizes where Virgil is trapped, and she uses Gen's jump rope to help Vigil out of the well. Virgil still can't get the courage to talk to Valencia, but Virgil stands up to Chet and Mrs. Salinas.
