His greatest accomplishment was he was the first englishman to sail across the world. It took him 7 months to get to patagonia after he sailed off in December 1577. Two of his ships had become very leaky so he abandoned them and continued to the Magellan Strait. After that they got caught in bad weather and lost the Marigold. They wanted to give up and go back to england but Sir Francis wouldn't give up. Then stole goods from spanish settlements and sailed home. It took him 2 years and 10 months to do this voyage.
