Franz Von Papen was a German statesman and politician. He played a key role in dissolving the Weimar Republic. Persuaded president Hindenburg to appoint the Nazi leader to the position.

1Munich Putsch, Nov 1923 (blessing in disguise for Hitler):

Hitler got together a bunch of unemployed young men and former soldiers that were known as storm troopers to make an attempt to overthrow the Weimer Republic. On November 9, Hitler and this group of Nazis marched into Munich planning to easily take power. The police came and Hitler fled. He was found two days later and was sent to jail.

Describe Hitler's Oratory skills and Personality.

Hitler was a very talented speaker. People were compelled by his words. He made people think he was the last hope for Germany. He could make people believe him even if he was lying. He was very persuasive. His speaking skills played a role in his rise to power as well. As for his personality, Hitler could be a bully. He wanted things his way or no way. People just gave into him, like Chamberlain for example. He was also a very smart man.

The Reichstag Fire (significant):

On February 27, 1933, the German parliament (Reichstag) building burned down due to arson. The government falsely portrayed the fire as part of a Communist effort to overthrow the state.

Hindenburg:

Paul Von Hindenburg was a German World War I military commander and president. He put Hitler into power as Chancellor. Thought he could control him.

This is a ruthless, tyrannical leader. Hitler was the first holder of this position.

Propaganda:

This is ideas or facts spread deliberately to further one's cause or to damage an opposing cause. Hitler used propaganda a lot to get people on his side. When Hitler used propaganda, it made people think he was their last hope.

The SA:

This was a paramilitary group in the German Nazi Party. They went by Brown Shirts or Storm Troopers. They used methods of violent intimidation, and they played a key role in Hitler's rise to power.
