What is HTTPS

The 'S' at the end of HTTPS stands for 'Secure'. It means all communications between your browser and the website are encrypted.

A cookie is passed with the GET request and the browser saves this id number. The browser holds on to this number, and the next time you go to a webpage, it knows to automatically attach cookie to request and server knows who is making the request.
