7 pairs; attach directly to the sternum by hyaline cartilage. Backbone in the upper body. First 7 Ribs.

A horse shoe shaped bone in the neck area. Have 1.

Back part of the hip (two in total)

Large triangular shaped bone consisting of five fused vertebrae forming the posterior part of the pelvis. Located in the lumbar vertebra. (Have 4 or 5 total)

Largest of the vertebrae at the bottom of the spinal cord (5 in total)

False Ribs

Last 3 pairs of ribs; attach indirectly to sternum.

Floating Ribs

Last two pairs of ribs; do not attach to sternum.

Sternum

Located in the middle of the chest (front). Shaped like a flat dagger. (only one)

Femur

Longest and largest bone in the body. Located in the upper part (thigh) of each leg

Humerus

Longest bone in each part of the upper arm (total of two)

pubis

Lower part of the pelvis in the lower body (two in total)

thoracic

Moves with the ribs. Located in the middle section of the spinal chord (12 in total)

Fibula

Non weight bearing bone in each leg. Located at behind the shin

Cranium

Protective frame, Head. Only 1

Tibia

Shin bone located in each leg. Faces the front of the leg

Vertebral Column

Spinal cord located in the upper body (composed of 26 discs in adults, 33 in children)

Ribs

The Cage. The bones located in the upper chest that protect the heart and lungs. (24 total or 12 pairs)

Xiphoid Process

The lower part of the sternum that projects downward to the point where the sternum meets the lower ribs. Have 1.

Coccyx

The tailbone, made up of the four fused vertebrae located at the bottom of the spinal column. (3 to 5)

Talus

The top bone in the ankle that articulates with the leg bones to form the ankle joint. Have 2.

Maxilla

The upper jawbone and part of the nose, orbits and (2 only)

Clavicle

collarbone, located in the upper part of the chest. (2 total)

cervical

located in the neck and top of the spinal cord (7 in total)

Mandible

the lower jawbone and articulates with the temporal bone (1 only)
