Sixth

Both "Night" by Elie Wiesel and "The Boy In The Striped Pajamas" by John Boyne are written to show how much indifference was active during the time period of World War II.

Fifth

Our world has changed in many positive ways since World War II. Even though many things have changed, indifference is still present. An example of indifference in today's world is the pollution that covers the oceans. Many people do not want to get involved because it seems like to large of a task. Others don't care about the pollution that is destroying the oceans. Many people don't have any feelings about pollution and are continuing to ruin our Earth. Indifference outlying is towards a group of people but can also be towards the world itself.

Second

Elie Wiesel once said, "The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference. The opposite of art is not ugliness, it's indifference. The opposite of faith is not heresy, it's indifference. And the opposite of life is not death, it's indifference." This quote relates to both stories and means that if you don't love something, it's not that you hate it, it's that you have no feeling for it.

Third

In "Night" by Elie Wiesel a major example of indifference was when the German soldiers consistently made the Jews march until death. On page 19 it says how the soldiers talked to the Jews while they were marching. "Faster! Faster! Move you lazy good for nothings!" The soldiers didn't care that the Jews had no energy because they were starving, they felt no feeling toward them because they thought the Jews were unimportant. Therefore that is an example of indifference.

Fourth

In "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" by John Boyne, the examples of indifference are more indirect then in "Night" because it is told from a innocent German boys perspective. An example of indifference in this story is how throughout the story, the main character, Bruno's mom was two sided about her feelings about the war. Bruno's mom knew what her husband, a German soldier, was doing was wrong but didn't do anything about because she didn't care enough and was to afraid. That is a prime example of indifference in "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas".

First

Indifference. Indifference is when you simply don't care, you think it's unimportant and don't have any feelings about it. "Night" by Elie Wiesel and "The Boy In The Striped Pajamas" by John Boyne both take place during World War II. "Night" is a nonfiction story written from a prisoner of a concentration camps perspective and "The Boy in The striped pajamas" is a fiction book written from a German soldier's son perspective. During world war II, many people were mistreated because of their religion, race, or beliefs. It literally was a world war and over 60 million people were killed. Both of these books offer major examples of indifferences.
