Resolution

The part of a plot that concludes the falling action by revealing or suggesting the outcome of the conflict.

Rising Action

The part of the plot that adds complication to the plot's problems and increases readers interest.

Narrative hook

The point in a story or novel at which the author catches the reader's attention by presenting an interesting problem or situation.

Climax

The point of greatest emotional intensity, interest, or suspense in a story. Usually the climax comes at the turning point in a story, the point at which the resolution of the conflict becomes clear.

conflict

The struggle between two opposing forces. An external conflict exists when a character struggles against some outside forces. An internal conflict exists within the mind of a charcter who is torn between opposing feelings or goals.

Exposition

An author's introduction to the characters, setting and situation at the beginning of a story.

It is the set of events that bring the story to a close.

Climax

It is the turning point in the story that occurs when characters try to solve the complication.

Complication

It the catalyst that begins the major conflict

Falling Action

The action that follows the climax.
