Sperm duct (Vas deferens)

a tube that extends from each testis up through the abdominal cavity and joins with the urethra (the long "cord shaped thing"). It forms a pathway in which sperm travels.

Urethra

a tube that travels from the urinary bladder through the penis and out of the body. Both semen and urine leave the body through the urethra.

Scrotum

an external sac that hangs outside the body cavity that contains the testes. Testes holder. It has a cooler temperature tan the body - sperm need this lower temperature for development.

Seminiferous Tubules

are tiny coiled tubules that make up the testes. This is where sperm is produced.

Epididymus

coiled tube where sperm is produced and allowed to mature and become mobile. One end is attached to the testes and the other is attached to the vas deferns.

Cowpers Gland

secretes a secretion that is mucus -rich , the big DOT near the urethral

Testerone

steriod hormone produced in the testicles that is responsible for the development of male secondary sexual characteristics. Secondary male sexual characteristics include :enlargement of the primary sexual characteristics (the penis and testes) and the enlargement of the larynx (Adam's apple). It also inhibits fat while promoting the development of muscle tissue and stimulates formation of hair on the face, chest, under the arms and around the genitals.

FSH

A hormone that is stimulated in the process of spermatogenes from the anterior pituitary gland. It Stimulates the Testes to produce Sperm.

What 3 glands form Seminal fluid?

Copwers gland ,Seminal Vessicle and Prostate gland. Seminal fluid : carries sperm and lubricates the passage through which sperm travels . Protects the sperm from the acid in the urine. Supplies the semen with nurtrients. Seminal fluid and the Sperm form Semen.

LH

From the anterior pituitary, it stimulates the intestitial cells of the testes that surround the semiferous tubules. It Stimulates the Testes to Produce Testosterone.

Inhibin

From the seminiferous tubules in addition to producing sperm, this is released. Hormone that acts on the hypothalamus to stimulate the production of releasing factors that trigger the release of FSH. The interaction of FSH and this hormone the rate of formation of sperm.

Prostate gland

Secretes a secretion that contains buffers that protect sperm cells from the acidic environment of the vagina. Looks like a meat patty.

Seminal Vessicle

Secretes a secretion that contains fructose and prostaglandins.

Testis

They are male gonades or reproductive organs that produce male gametes (sperm). Produce sex horomones called androgens - most common androgen is testosterone. At puberty they produce high levels of testosterone. Under the influence of testosterone testes produce sperm
