What causes acceleration?

"net force" / force

The second law says that acceleration is equal to?

*FORCE*

Unbalanced forces- #1

*The larger the force makes a larger acceleration.*

Unbalanced forces- #2

-Unbalanced forces causes acceleration,which causes- the velocity to change, which causes a "net force" MUST EQUAL ZERO! -- causes acceleration. -(MASS IS DIFFERENT). -Acceleration is always in the same direction as the net force.

What are the 3 main ideas of the second law?

1.) acceleration is the result of unbalanced forces 2.) a larger force makes a larger acceleration 3.) acceleration is inversely proportional (opposite) to mass.

What are 2 things about force and motion?

1.) unbalanced force causes change in speed and direction. 2.) Anytime there is a change in speed or direction there must be an unbalanced force acting.

Acceleration

A result of change in speed and/or direction.

*What is the formula for acceleration?*

Acceleration= Force (divided by) Mass

What is the formula that summarizes Newton's Second Law?

F= mxa

Newton's Second Law

F=mxa, acceleration is force divided by mass. the amount of acceleration depends on both the force and acceleration and the mass.

*What is the formula for force?*

Force=Mass x Acceleration

Acceleration decreases with mass because mass creates...?

Inertia

*What is the formula for mass?*

Mass= Force (divided by) Acceleration

Indirectly Proportional

The greater the mass, the smaller the acceleration for a given force.

What does it mean to say that the "net force" determines an objects acceleration?

This means that when the object has no acceleration the net force must be zero, & all forces that are acting on the object, depending on how much force there is and how much mass the object has and it determines the object's "net force's" acceleration.

Directly Proportional

increase or decrease the same amount at the same time

What equivalent unit is used to get (N) newtons?

m/s2
