Speaking Outline

Preparation Outline

Detailed outline developed during process of speech prep that includes title, specific purpose, central idea, introduction, main points, subpoints, connectives, conclusion, & bibliography of speech

Delivery Cues

Directions in a speaking outline to help a speaker remember how they want to deliver key parts of the speech

State Specific Purpose

Separate unit that comes before outline - Easier to assess how well you've constructed speech

Keep Outline as Brief as Possible

Too detailed notes make it difficult to maintain eye contact - Include wording that's just so very important - MINIMUM needed to jog memory and keep you on track

Give Speech a Title, If Desired

Brief - Grab attention - Encapsulate main point - Can be question - Be resourceful
