Overdraft

An overdraft occurs when money is withdrawn from a bank account and the available balance goes below zero. In this situation the account is said to be "overdrawn."

Overdraft (OD) vs Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF)

Overdraft is an item that overdrew the account but was paid. The customer is charged the $36.00 overdraft fee. Non-Sufficient Funds is an item that would overdraw the account but was returned to the presenter. The customer is charger the $36.00 NSF fee. To determine if an item has been paid or returned view the customer's account. On the OD/NSF history screen, the item code will indicate either OD or NSF.
