Bill

A MPP can propose an idea for a new law. The bill goes through three readings and a debate before it becomes a bill.

Party

A group of people who have similar ideas for how an area should be governed

Consensus Government

Candidates do not belong to parties. Instead, they present their own beliefs to voters. Voters then elect the candidate whose ideas they support.

Education

Each provincial and territorial government has the same goal for education; to give every child the opportunity to be educated. They provide the curriculum.

Healthcare

In Ontario, provided through hospitals, clinics and other healthcare facilities. Costs include hiring doctors, nurses and other staff, medical equipment and medicines.

Natural Resources

In provinces the provincial government controls how natural resources are developed and used.

Goal of Court System

Is to make sure that citizens are treated fairly and that the community is kept safe.

They get money from taxes and from the federal government. Each government has to create a budget as to how they plan to spend their money.
