Queen Victoria's Death & Legacy

*Great Britain experienced unprecedented expansion in industry, building railways, bridges, underground sewers, and power distribution networks throughout much of the empire. There were advances in science, technology (the telegraph and popular press), inventions, wealth and poverty, and the growth of literacy and cities. Great Britain experienced fewer wars while Queen Victoria was in reign because she didn't believe in fighting. Also, politics in Britain changed. Some of the British Parliamentary parties split or conjoined. *Queen Victoria was buried in the Royal Burial Ground. Which is located in Windsor, and Maidenhead Royal Borough, Berkshire, England.

Queen Victoria's Childhood & Parents

*Queen Victoria was born in Kensington Palace, London, the United Kingdom on May 24, 1819. *Queen Victoria was an only child to Duke Edward of Kent and King George III's fourth son, and her mother, Victoria Saxe-Saalfield-Coburg. Her mother had two other children before she married Edward. Her father died quickly after her birth. He died of pneumonia on January 23, 1820. At the age of 74, her mother got surgery on her arm. It later became an infection and she died on March 16, 1861.

Queen Victoria's Reign

*She was born into the royal family with a mother that was a princess and a father that was a duke. She became Queen when she was 17 and tens of thousands of people came to her coronation. She was only 19 years old at the time. There were tens of thousands of people there on the streets to watch their new queen ascend. * The Victorian Era of the 19th century was named after her because of her long reign as Queen. Overall, her legacy was everything she did to improve Great Britain. She made improvements in politics, technology, architecture, etc.

Queen Victoria's Husband & Children

*While her uncle King George IV reigned over Great Britain and Ireland, Victoria lived a quiet, secluded childhood in Kensington Palace with her mother and a largely German-speaking household. Alexandria was her real name. She spoke mainly German but she later learned to speak English. Alexandria received a liberal education in music, drawing, natural philosophy, history, and foreign languages. As a child, Victoria was described as warmhearted, lively, and occasionally mischievous. When she was 16, she met her future husband, Edward. *Their first child was the Princess Royal Victoria Adelaide Mary Louise, who was born on November twenty-one, 1840. Alice Maud Mary was born in 1843. Alfred Ernest Albert was born the following year, in 1844. Helena Augusta Victoria was born in 1846. Louise Caroline Alberta was born in 1848; Arthur William Patrick, supposedly the Queen's favorite son, was born in 1850; Leopold George Duncan was born in 1853. The Queen's last child Beatrice Mary Victoria was born in 1857.
