Ways to Enter Data
1) Type into cell 2) Type data into edit bar 3) Enter calculations into edit bar 4) Copy and Paste 5) Use Fill Options
rules
A formula that defines how EP calculates measures. You can define them for both variables and versions
rule set
A rule set is a rule plus all its inverses

Copy and Pasting
Planners copy and paste data as a time saving tool that transfers identical information... for example if departments have similar sales patterns... or you have a number of new items that you are planning same way. - You can copy past cell values from one cell to another - You can copy data from one view and paste it to another - You can copy a row or column of data from one view to another - You can copy and paste an entire view
normal
act according to standard in plan when data is entered. Consolidate and Spread
spreading
data at higher level spread to lower levels
Consolidation
data at lower level is summed up
Undo Option
erases what you have just done
rule sets
how values will be calculated, includes inverses
The Protection Process
is carried out every time the value of a cell is changed, to determine what the effect on other cells will be
average
uses averages when data is entered. Consolidate and Spread
opening and closing
variables have the same value at different levels in the time hierarchy. i.e. Opening stock for Feb is the same as Opening stock for week 1.
creating percent participation
- 1. Right - Click on the row or column header and select Percentage or choose Percentage from the toolbar - 2. Select the Percentage Ancestors - 3. Enter a heading for the column or row - 4. Using cells and edit bar to enter data
1) Typing data into the cell - To type data into the cell, simply click in the cell and type the amount in... then click in another cell, or press enter to save changes. 2) Typing data into the Edit Bar - To type data into the edit bar, click on the cell you wish to change and type the new amount in the edit bar at the top of the screen. Press enter and save your changes 3) Calculation entered into the Edit Bar - To type the data, click on the cell you wish to change and type the calculation in the edit bar at the top of the screen (use k for thousands and M for Millions)
downloading data to excel: The planning import wizard
EP allows you to transfer data from the spreadsheet into Microsoft Excel. Step 1: To Export data, open Excel and select Add-ins and then Planning Import Wizard. The Planning Import Wizard will open Step 2: Select the EP view to import. You can choose the current view if one is currently open in EP, or select from any saved views. variable characteristics
Variables are assigned characteristics to control how the spreading and consolidations are preformed
non-spread
Variables that can not spread because they will not consolidate sensibly. i.e. Markdown %'s, Margin %
Fill Option
We use fill options to easily place data in multiple cells. Fill options allow you to select a range of cells in a spreadsheet view and fill them with data. You can fill them with: 1. A single data value 2. A row or column of values 3. A sequence based on a row or column value - When filling a range of cells the first cell selected should contain the data you want to replicate Filling Options Fill All Fill Up Fill Down Fill Left Fill Right Fill Series

Freezing Members
You can freeze members so that the calculation process no longer affects them. (You can not freeze a member of the time dimension)
Locking and Unlocking Cells
prevents values from changing when recalculating data -Undo Cell - causes the current cell to revert to the value it held after the last calculation -Undo All - Causes the contents of all the changed cells to revert to the values they held after the last calculation
Calculation
the process of deriving values in a module by consolidation, spreading, or evaluating of rules
