This is clear when Margot turns down Anne's request for a dance, choosing instead to help her mother (pg.116 para. 40-41).

Anne, her family, and the Van Daans have to hot into hiding, so they wouldn't be captured by the Green Police because they were Jews living in Amsterdam, Holland. Their families bicker all day, which causes tension on everyone. Anne is anxiously awaiting they day where she could do what she wants, but I'm the end will she be able to? Will she survive?

Mr. Dussel is fed up with Anne at night because he hasn't gotten any sleep. When Anne had the nightmare, Mr. Dussel was mad, so he takes his things and goes sleep in the bathroom. This is unfair because Anne is a child that can't control her nightmares (pg. 134-135 para. 14, 18, 23, 25-28).
