A new feature that was just added a few months ago that relates to the TV & movies section is the Roku Search. This allows you to search for a title across different applications When you do this, Roku Search shows you where it's available across the Roku platform.

Slide 8 (USB media player)

Another new feature of the Roku 2 XS is the USB media player When you add this channel, this gives your Roku the capability to play different media that you have stored on a USB drive, which you can plug right into the back of the Roku.

Slide 10 (Games)

Games is the third major category of channels. As you can see from the picture, some popular games are bowling and video poker, but the most popular is angry birds. The gaming capability of Roku has been increasing in popularity since the new model, the Roku 2 xs, was released.

Slide 19 (practicality)

It's completely up to your needs if you already have a gaming console (such as a PS3, wii, or xbox), that allows you to watch netflix or hulu plus, then you probably won't need it.

Slide 15 (Roku 2XS VS Roku2 XD)

Let's compare the different Roku models Unlike the XS, Roku XD does NOT come with the motion control remote or an Ethernet port which means you have to rely on wifi Additionally, it doesn't have a USB port so you cannot access the USB media player feature

Music is another really popular category of channels. Just like you would use pandora on your laptop or your smartphone, people use the Roku to listen to pandora and similar services on on their tv. Other popular music channels include Vevo and Spotify.

Now we're going to do a quick comparison between the Roku and the Apple TV. For the most part, they have similar functions You download channels onto your device (app store vs roku channel store) You can also use a mobile app for either device

Roku has more free content than apple and it plays 1080p while apple only play 720p. On the apple tv, you can do itunes sharing the apple tv is also compatible with other apple devices such as ipads and macbooks

So these are just some of the channels that are available in the movies & tv category. As you can see at the top, there are 89 channel in total and popular channels include netflix, hulu, flixster, and the syfy channel

Slide 2 (media streaming boxes)

So, what are Media Streaming boxes? Media Streaming boxes are devices that allow you to access different kinds of media on your tv by using an internet connection rather than cable. It works primarily through wifi-- although the new, high-end edition works with an ethernet cable.

Slide 9 (USB media cont.)

So, you can't access anything on a USB drive through the Media Player channel, but you can access some types of video, music, and photos. The types of files that the Roku can read are listed on the slide.

Slide 16 (Roku LT VS Roku HD) ****

The HD model does everything that XD does but it doesn't play the 1080p videos, instead it plays 720p. Its remote include quick buttons for crackle, netflix, and pandora The LT model is almost exactly like the HD except it's purple and it does not have the quick buttons and it's slightly larger than the HD

The Roku 2 XS comes with an exclusive remote control which is equip with motion sensors that work with a built-in accelerometer It's a lot like the wii remote except you don't need the sensor bar This is also the technology that allows the user to play angry birds

The Roku 2 XS is the newest model that was released in July of 2011. it is smaller than previous models and has a ethernet port It comes free with angry birds to highlight its new capabilities it also has some additional features that we will talk about next

The Roku mobile app also allows you to enjoy the music and photos in your phone on your Roku player In other words, you can share a photo slide show on the big screen In addition, you can voice launch your channels

Users can manage their Roku channels through their smart phones so long as it's an android or an iOS. Another cool feature is that you can download a Roku remote app or a virtual keyboard on your phone and use it as a remote

You can access different media on the Roku by using channels. There are many different categories , including: tv, movies, games, music, news, weather, and more You can add channels to your device through the Roku Channel Store ( so it's kind of like an app store for Roku)

Slide 3 (how do you set it up)

• To get it to work, all you need to do is plug it into an outlet, connect it to your tv using an HDMI cable, and connect it to the internet o If your tv does not have an HDMI port or you don't have an HDMI cable you can use component cables which are included in the Roku package
