Composure - audiences tend to be influenced by speakers who are emotionally stable, appear confident and in control of themselves, and remain calm even when problems arise during a speech.

Credibility of evidence is used to support claims is determined by its reliability and validity. Reliability means consistency and validity means accuracy. Types of fallacies: Questionable statistic - ask yourself whether the statistic seems sensible and accurate Biased source - special-interest groups or individuals who stand to make money, prestige, power, or influence if they advocate a certain position on an issues are biased sources of information Incomplete source citation - name, specifical title, and specific publication. Transparency increases your credibility. Expert quoted out of field - quoting experts outside their field of expertise runs the substantial risk of promoting inaccurate claims supported by invalid and unreliable evidence.
