A mixture contains 2 or more different types of matter. A mixture can be heterogeneous or homogeneous.

A pure substance is the same throughout. Every sample always has the same properties. Pure substances are homogeneous.

Homogeneous means that every part is the same as every other part.

What is a homogeneous mixture?

Homogeneous mixtures contain two or more pure substances. The substances are mixed so their properties are blended and every part of the mixture is the same. Example: - a sugar- water mixture - window cleaner - orange juice

How can you tell that a sample of matter is a mixture?a

Look at the ingredient list; if it has more than one ingredient, it's a mixture. If it doesn't have an ingredients list, look at it to see if it's made up of different parts. (Example: beach sand is made up of sand, shells and maybe even seaweed)
