Why is the sky blue?
When sunlight reaches Earth's atmosphere, it is scattered in all directions by all the gases and particles in the air. Blue is scattered by air molecules more than other colors because it travels as shorter, smaller waves. This is why we see a blue sky most of the time.

Color by transmission vs. Color by reflection
Color by transmission: The color of a transparent object is the color of the light it transmits. Color by reflection: The color of an opaque object is the color of the light it reflects.
Why are sunsets red?
During a sunset, more red light is scattered toward you because of aerosols in the lower atmosphere, compared to the amount of blue or green light that is scattered. Because at sunset (or sunrise) sunlight is passing through a much longer path of the lower atmosphere, which is where most of the aerosols are concentrated. So, the scattering effect of the aerosols is magnified, causing more red light to be scattered than other colors of light.
List the electromagnetic spectrum in order (from high to low frequency) OR (from high to low wavelength)
From high to low in Frequency: gamma, x-ray, ultraviolet, visible, infrared, microwave, radio From high to low in wavelength: radio, microwave, infrared, visible, ultraviolet, x-ray, gamma

Why is water greenish-blue?
the ocean reflects the blue spectrum of light and absorbs red. "The ocean looks blue because red, orange and yellow (long wavelength light) are absorbed more strongly by water than is blue (short wavelength light). So when white light from the sun enters the ocean, it is mostly the blue that gets returned. Same reason the sky is blue.".
