Cumulative

A frequency, proportion, or percentage obtained by adding a given number to all numbers below it.

Frequency

A raw count of the number of times a particular characteristic appears in a data set.

Proportion

A standardized form of a frequency that ranges from 0.00 to 1.00

Percentage

A standardized form of a frequency that ranges from 0.00 to 100.00

Contingency table

A table showing the overlap between two variables.

Bivariate

Analysis involving two variables. Usually one is designated the IV and the other the DV.

Univariate

Involving one variable.

Trends

Patterns that indicate whether something is increasing, decreasing, or staying the same over time.

Classes

The categories or groups within a nominal or ordinal variable.

Cell

The place in a table where a row and column meet.

Longitudinal variables

Variables measured repeatedly over time.
