Amendment Clause

3/4 majority in order to ratify amendments; states must have equal reps in senate; can't do anything about slave trade until 1808

3/5 Clause (Compromise)

Compromise put into place when deciding if slaves could be counted in the population; each black person will count as 3/5 of a person; favors the south with more seats in congress

Territorial Clause

Congress doesn't have power over slavery in the states, it does over territories; limits the expansion of slavery in the west

1808 Clause

south wanted protection of slaves thought north would abolish it . clause stated that congress cant pass any law that has to do with slavery until 1808

Fugitive Clause

This clause served to mollify southern planters. It allowed masters to reclaim enslaved blacks who fled to other states.
