Here are seven bers that don't follow the pattern of most verbs. These are called irregular verbs

There are three types of infinitives (or conjugations).

The infinitive of the verb:
-verbs end in -o when a person is talking about his/her own activities infinitives in english are preceded by to: to walk, to run, to eat
Asking and answering questions about what you like to do in your free time.
1. ti piace giocare a carte? Do you like playing cards? Answer: Si, mi piace giocare a carte. 2. ti piace pulire la casa? Do you like cleaning the house? Answer: No, non mi piace pulire la casa. 3. ti piace giocare a golf Do you like to play golf? 4. ti piace incontrare gli amici? Do you like meeting friends? 5. ti piace suonare la chitarra? Do you like playing the guitar?
Tp indicate preference, use piacere or preferire followed by the infinitive:
A noi piace... , mentre gli italiani preferiscono We like to . . . , while Italians prefer. . . A tutti piace... Everyone likes . . . A nessuno piace No one likes . . .
Matching verbs with their infinitive forms:
Arrivo = arrivare Scario = scaricare Frequento = frequentare ceno = cenare Prendo = prendere Mangio = mangiare pranzo = pranzare servo = servire apro = aprire
To give advice about activities that one does or does not need to do or that one should or should not do, say (non) bisogna followed by the infitive.
Bosogna dormire otto ore. One needs to / One (you) should sleep eight hours. Non bisogna bere coca-cola di pomeriggio One (you) should not drink Coke in the afternoon
To say that he enjoys an activity, use gli piace + infinitive.
Gli piace guardare la TV. He likes to watch TV.
To say that she enjoys an activity, use le piace + infinitive.
Le piace fare sport. She likes to play sports
No, grazie. Non mi va.
No, thanks. I do not feel like.
Reading and answering statements that are correct (correcto) to wrong (sbagliato)
S1: Di pomeriggio bevo coca-cola I drink coke in the afternoon. S2: Sbagliato! Non bisogna bere coca-cola di pomeriggio. Wrong! You don't have to drink coca-cola in the afternoon.
ASking someone if they want to do an activity dialogue
S1: Ti va di andare al cinema martedi sera? Do you want to go to the cinema on Tuesday night? S2: Si, volentieri! A che ora? Yes, gladly! At what time? S1: Alle sei, va bene? At six, okay? S2: Si, va benissimo. Grazie! Yes, that's fine. Thank you!
TO find out if a friend feels like doing a particular activity, you can ask:
Ti va di + infinitive You want + infinitive -Ti va di andare (go/verb) al cinema stasera? Do you want to go to the cinema tonight? -Si. (No, non mi va) Yup. (No, I don't want to)
