Anti-Inductive Reasoning

Any method that has not worked in the past will work in the future

David Hume

Human reason is split between two kinds: Matter of Fact and Relation of Ideas Matter of Fact looks like Geometry, Algebra, and Arithematics. They can only be intuitively and demonstratively certain. Relation of Ideas, however, is much different. This relies on Inductive reasoning/ a posterior knowledge

A posterior

Is the basis of belief for Matter of Fact knowledge and is based on Direct Observation or Inferences from Cause and Effect Conclusions: Belief in Induction is not justifiable, but we could not live without it Source of belief in induction is personal to us and our own internal/external experiences

A priori

Reasoning independent of prior experience Intuitive- self evident and immediately known or understood Demonstrative- provable by valid reasoning based on intuitive premises

Principle of Uniformity of Nature

The future will resemble the past. this is also known as the Principle of Inductive reasoning
