When to use Tree Maps?

For showing part-to-whole comparisons, especially for data sets with long tails. Tree Maps effectively show all of the data at once. Good at displaying many levels of dimensions: i.e. category and sub-category Long tails: values that spread out very far in their distributions - many small values that contribute the whole dataset.
