Lecture
A prepare, often formal speech that informs or instucts on audience. Occasion and Audience: Ex: Medical discovery/scientist to doctors at a medical convention
Presentation
A prepared speech about a topic, may include visual aids. Occasion and Audience: Ex: Multimedia/historical event by a student to a history class.
Sermon
A prepared, often formal speech intended to teach or inspire. Occasion and Audience: Ex: Religious figure/pastor to the church
Extemporaneous Speech:
A speech delivered without preparation, usually in a conversational style. Occasion and Audience: Ex: Wedding/wedding guest to the bride andgroom
Talk
An informal speech delivered in a converstional style. Occasion and Audience: Ex: Report on an fundraiser/student or member of volunteer club.
