To me, art is using the imaginary to consciously express thoughts or ideas. It can be any singular way that a person expresses themselves or their ideas.

iconography is the study of themes and symbols, figures and images that when deciphered reveal the underlying meaning of a work of art. iconographic analysis establishes the meaning of a particular work of art at a particular time while formal analysis analyzes the forms utilized in the work- color, shape, line, mass, and space.
