"Nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law".
All of your rights are under the law. (Important because states were taking away peoples rights)
14th amendment
Defines citizenship.
"Nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws".
Everyone should be treated the same.
"All persons born or naturalized in the U.S., and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the U.S. and the state wherein they reside".
If you were born in the U.S. or went through the naturalization process you are a U.S. citizen.
" No state shall make or enforce any lax which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the U.S.
States can't take away your rights. ( You are protected)
