Spiking

"Attack" is the last hit made by the offensive team. Usually the attack is made on the third contact but may be hit on any contact BUT the serve. The spike is the most "exciting" part of a volleyball game.

How many players are allowed on the floor per team at a time?

Block

A defensive move, using two hands, with your arms extended above the net to prevent the spike from coming onto your side. Player takes off of two feet! It does not count as a hit on your side, and cannot be used against a serve.

Setting

Also known as an overhead pass, it is directed to the point where the attacker can best hit for a kill. Setting is a very accurate way of passing the ball.

Serving

An integral part of a volleyball match. A highly effective serve will score an outright winner-an ace. ACE, when a team is unable to play the ball after the first contact of the serve.

Where can you serve?

Anywhere on the service line

Where are the passers positioned?

At the back of the court (left, middle, and right)

Basic Underhand serve, Overhand float serve, Overhand topspin serve, Jump serve

How must the team rotate?

Clockwise, with the net being 12 o' clock

When does a substitute come in?

Every time there is a rotation

Bumping

Most frequently used skill in the game of volleyball. The forearm pass is used to receive service and to dig spikes. The bump or pass is directed to the setter

Is a player allowed to spike or block a serve?

No

Is holding, lifting or throwing a ball allowed? (Carry)

No

Is touching the net allowed in volleyball?

No

Is touching/hitting the ball allowed for two times in a row?

No

What must you say before serving?

Score

How many hits is a team allowed?

Three hits, however, you do not have to use all of them

Where is a spiker positioned?

Upper left and upper right of the court

Where is a Setter positioned?

Upper middle of the court

When is a ball considered, "IN"?

When the ball hits the court lines

When do players rotate?

When their team has won the serve back from the other team

Is hitting a bowl outside of the boundaries of the court a foul?

Yes

Is it considered a foul when a player serves the ball short, into the net, or out of bounds (Out of the boundaries of the court)?

Yes

When a ball hits the net, is the ball and still goes over, is it considered playable?

Yes
