Weather
Radar
a system for detecting the presence, direction, distance, and speed of aircraft, ships, and other objects, by sending out pulses of high-frequency electromagnetic waves that are reflected off the object back to the source.
satellite
an artificial body placed in orbit around the earth or moon or another planet in order to collect information or for communication
Barometer
an instrument measuring atmospheric pressure, used especially in forecasting the weather and determining altitude.
Hygrometer
A hygrometer UK /haɪˈɡrɒmɪtər/ is an instrument used for measuring the moisture content in the atmosphere. Humidity measurement instruments usually rely on measurements of some other quantity such as temperature, pressure, mass or a mechanical or electrical change in a substance as moisture is absorbed.
thermometer
A thermometer is a device that measures temperature or a temperature gradient. A thermometer has two important elements: the temperature sensor (e.g. the bulb on a mercury-in-glass thermometer) in which some physical change occurs with temperature, plus some means of converting this physical change into a numerical value (e.g. the visible scale that is marked on a mercury-in-glass thermometer).
Rain Gauge
A tool to measure the total rain fall
Weather balloon
A weather or sounding balloon is a balloon (specifically a type of high altitude balloon) which carries instruments aloft to send back information on atmospheric pressure, temperature, humidity and wind speed by means of a small, expendable measuring device called a radiosonde.
wind vane
A weather vane, wind vane, or weathercock is an instrument for showing the direction of the wind. They are typically used as an architectural ornament to the highest point of a building.
wind sock
A windsock is a conical textile tube (which resembles a giant sock, hence its name) designed to indicate wind direction and relative wind speed. Windsocks typically are used at airports and at chemical plants where there is risk of gaseous leakage. They are sometimes located alongside highways at windy locations.
Anemometer
An anemometer or windmeter is a device used for measuring wind speed, and is a common weather station instrument. The term is derived from the Greek word anemos, meaning wind, and is used to describe any air speed measurement instrument used in meteorology or aerodynamics.
Sling Psychrometer
Weather observers can use a sling psychrometer to measure the amount of water vapor in the air - that is, its humidity. The wet-bulb thermometer cools to the lowest value possible in a few minutes. This value is known as the wet-bulb temperature.
