The distinction between explicit memory and declarative memory is made. In such cases, explicit memory relates to any kind of conscious memory, and declarative memory relates to any kind of memory that can be described in words. However if we assume that a memory cannot be described without being conscious and vice versa, then the two concepts are identical.

Episodic memory is recalling situational details of ones previous experiences. It's also mentally reliving in detail the past events that they concern.

Knowing what is memory of facts and events, and refers to those memories that can be consciously recalled ( or declared). It is sometimes called explicit memory, since it consists of information that is explicitly stored and retrieved, although it is more properly a subset of explicit memory.

Habitual memory or prospective memory can be defined as the ability to remember to perform a previously formed intention at the appropiate occasion,. However none of these studies has examined the neural correlates of habitual prospective memory.

Semantic memory refers to general world knowledge ( facts, ideas, meaning, and concepts) that can be articulated and is independent of personal experience. This includes world knowledge, object knowledge, we can learn by applying our knowledge learned from things in the past.

Semantic is general knowledge and facts about the world and episodic is personal experiences that are encountered at a particular time and place.
