Derived from Mesencephalon Gives rise to: tectum (superior, inferior colliculi), cerebral aqueduct, red nucleus, substantia negra, crus cerebri oculomotor (III), trochlear (IV)

Telencephalon

Derived from Prosencephalon Gives rise to: cerebral hemispheres (neocortex), olfactory cortex (paleocortex), hippocampus (archicortex), basal ganglia, lateral and 3rd ventricles olfactory (I)

Diencephalon

Derived from Prosencephalon Gives rise to: optic cup/nerves, thalamus, hypothalamus, mammillary bodies, part of 3rd ventricle optic (II)

Metencephalon

Derived from Rhombencephalon Gives rise to: pons, cerebellum trigeminal (V), abducens (VI), facial (VII), vestibulocochlear (VIII), glossopharyngeal (IX), vagus (X), hypoglossal (XII)

Myelencephalon

Derived from Rhombencephalon Gives rise to: medula oblongata trigeminal (V), abducent (VI), facial (VII), vestibulocochlear (VIII), glossopharyngeal (IX), vagus (X), hypoglossal (XII)
